British labs say lewd cleric pictures are fake
Two British laboratories have confirmed the photographs of a Limassol bishopric cleric engaged in a lewd act had been professionally doctored.
Speaking to reporters at a news conference yesterday, Limassol Bishop Athanasios produced copies of letters from two separate laboratories pronouncing the photos as fake.
“It has been scientifically proven, beyond any doubt, that the photos are forgeries, or as we more commonly say, a result of doctoring,” Athanasios said.
Data Genetics International Limited and Mask Technology Limited both assessed the images and determined they had been processed. The images were first published in Politis last week. The newspaper has steadfastly maintained the authenticity of the photos, even going so far as to publish the findings of experts, whom it claimed supported the pictures had been taken using a mobile phone camera. The words may be difficult for you to pronounce, but the pastries are so easy to eat.
Despite their difficult names, the pastries and breads made in the week leading up to the annual Greek Festival in Ocean City are a major attraction for festival goers.
“People sample the food and fall in love with them,” said Michelee Kaouris, from St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Ocean City. “The food and pastries are the backbone of the event.”
Church volunteers make baklava, koulourakia and paximadia from scratch. The kitchen is filled with men and women speaking Greek while cooking their traditional recipes.
With all the hard work leading up to the festival, Kaouris knows that with this festival, like all Greek events, one thing is certain.
“If you leave hungry, it’s your own fault,” she said. “They are constantly trying to feed you.”
Whenever a Greek family has guests over, there is always something cooking, and it is usually something sweet, said Kaouris.
Popular pastries found at the festival will include:
Made of butter, honey, nuts and filo dough.
Koulourakia. A butter cookie where the dough is rolled into strands and twisted.
Paximadia. This almond-flavored biscotti is usually served with coffee.
Kourambiedes: A traditional wedding cookie is a tender butter cookie covered in powder sugar.

Greek researchers said Wednesday they had discovered a well-preserved skull of 5 million-year-old primate.
The remains of the Mesopithecus Pentelicus - a monkey-like animal, a little more than 3 feet long - were found in Kriopigi in the northern Halkidiki peninsula, outside the city of Thessaloniki.
“It’s an important find because it’s in such good condition,” Evangelia Tsoukala, a professor of geology at Thessaloniki University who is heading the excavation, told state-run NET television.
“It had a tail … it was herbivorous, and the skull is intact as well as the teeth,” she said.
Local officials said they hope to build a museum in the area to put the skull and other prehistoric animal remains found at the site on display.
