For the first time ever on its premises, the Museum of Cycladic Art is hosting a video exhibition.

The exhibition, called Her(his)tory, runs from June 4 through September 29, 2007 at the Stathatos Megaron, Vasilissis Sofias Avenue and Irodotou 1 Street, Kolonaki, Athens. The second part of the exhibition, presenting several new video installations, will open on September 5, 2007 in the newer wing of the Museum, 4 Neofytou Douka Street, Kolonaki, Athens.

Her(his)tory addresses the major issues faced by contemporary society. It features artworks that examine, sometimes poetically, sometimes humorously, themes like the evolution of culture, the roles of women and men in contemporary society, and the role of the artist and visual expression in the broader cultural whole.

The Museum will display this contemporary video art alongside ancient objects from its permanent collections, a juxtaposition that is sure to arouse new questions about the origin of human culture and its contemporary evolution.
