Dozens of musicians and bands from around the world are coming to 8 Greek cities to celebrate European Music Day. Now in its 8th year, the celebration will last 3 days from June 21-23 in Athens, Gianitsa, Trikala, Katerini, Ioannina, Serres, Volos and Livadia.

This year, the celebration is expected to be the biggest and the best. Over 90 international artists, more than ever before, will travel to Greece for the celebration, and more than a hundred Greek musicians will perform.

New York rapper, Beat Assailant, who currently lives and works in Paris and is one of the biggest names of the hip hop scene, will be in Athens for the first time ever for this year’s Music Day. Since his first album release, “The Hard Twelve” in 2003, Beat Assailant has enjoyed critical acclaim and has worked with some of the biggest hip hop artists like Outcast, RZA, mc Solaar and Danger Mouse. With overtly political lyrics, part of the true hip hop roots, and with jazz, electro and Afro-Brazilian elements in his sound, he is expected to give an incredible live show along with his eleven-member band.

In Athens, center stage will be Syntagma Square, where music fans will enjoy an indie pop/rock sound from emerging and well-established Greek and international bands. In Kolonaki, Sina Street will ‘close’ to traffic for the first time ever to host music and other cultural events, while Kotzia and Klathmonos Squares repeat as main stages for Music Day.

The complete schedule of events and locations will be announced soon. For more information visit the website www.musicday.gr
