At the annual meeting of the European Casino Association held on June 6-7 in Loutraki, Greece, members and policy makers agreed on the importance of casinos in the provision of fair and controlled gambling services.
The ECA’s 2007 annual meeting kicked off with a speech by Chairman Constantinos Zacharopoulos, who welcomed the extensive work being carried out by the ECA and its local member, the Hellenic Casino Association, in sharing best professional practices across Europe.
The ECA European Dealer Championship, held for the first time in spring 2007, was one of most recent initiatives to promote best practices. Others include the adoption of the ECA Code of Conduct for Responsible Gambling in spring 2006, which led to a continuing co-operation with the European Association for the Study of Gambling.
“As a public representative, I am delighted to see that the ECA and HCA take their social responsibility very seriously,” said Zacharopoulos. “It is important that this socially responsible approach to casino games continues and, to this end, it is central that national regulators maintain control of their markets, thus enabling them to monitor and, where necessary, enforce such behaviour by operators.”
