Roger Gale MP for Thanet North has made a fresh appeal to new Foreign Secretary David Milliband to end the illegal occupation of Cyprus by Turkey and to allow freedom of movement, the London Greek News reports.
The letter cited the ongoing religious destruction that has taken place in northern Cyprus, ” Komi Kebir is the home village of the late George Gerolemou, my constituent, who died, last month, at the age of 94. His retirement villa, from which he and his wife were evicted, is illegally occupied by a settler from mainland Turkey and although it is too late for George his family would like what is now their property back, please.”
Roger Gale in a strongly worded letter to David Milliband went on by saying “I believe that over the 34 years successive UK governments have signally failed to take sufficiently robust action, in tandem with our allies the United States, to bring about a resolution of “The Cyprus Problem”.”
The efforts of Roger Gale MP and other friends of Cyprus come at a time when the Turkish lobby have seemingly escalated efforts to lift the embargo placed on the illegal regime in northern Cyprus, which may lead to international recognition.
