Roger Waters unvails the “Dark Side Of The Moon” in Terravibe, Malakasa, Greece

For many the “Dark Side Of The Moon” is the soundtrack of their teens. For others this album belongs to the golden list every person who loves rock music should possess. Thus, the announcement of Roger Waters’ live in Terravibe, Malakasa, could be described as the long-awaited wish coming true on Sunday, June 18, when the founder and composer of the holy terrors of progressive rock unvails the Dark Side of the Moon for the very first time in Greece.

Elaborate staging designed by Mark Fisher, including projectors and a full 360 quadrophonic sound system, will be a part of the shows. The performances consist of two sets, the first being a collection of his most well known songs, predominately Pink Floyd work, and the second being Dark Side Of The Moon in its entirety, plus encores.

Dark Side of the Moon > Dark Side of the Moon, the 1973 concept album by Pink Floyd, deals with the issues surrounding a normal person’s life, such as time, money, war, travel, mental illness, and death. It is considered by many fans to be the band’s magnum opus, surpassing even The Wall. It was a landmark in rock music, featuring radio-suitable songs such as “Money”, “Time”, “Us and Them”, and “Brain Damage/Eclipse” that also incorporate ethereal concrete sound techniques.

Some critics use the album as a point of reference between “classic” blues rock and the then-new genre of electronic music. However, the work’s softer touches of lyrical and musical nuance are what make Dark Side stand apart from its peers. All four of the band members participated in the writing and production: David Gilmour, Nick Mason, Roger Waters, and Richard Wright.

Dark Side of the Moon is one of the best-selling albums of all time worldwide, and the 20th-best-selling album in the United States. It peaked at #1 on The Billboard 200 and spent a record total of 741 consecutive weeks (over 14 years) on that list.

Few words about Roger Waters > Pink Floyd was founded by Roger Waters and Syd Barrett in 1966. In 1967 it’s members consisted of Syd Barrett, Roger Waters, Nick Mason, and Rick Wright. Syd Barrett, the band’s lead guitarist, also became the band’s main song writer. However, in 1968, because of mental health problems, Syd Barrett was replaced by David Gilmour.

Thereafter, because of his leadership capabilities, Roger Waters became the bands de-facto leader. For the next few years the music of Pink Floyd was written by all of the band’s members. However, beginning in 1971 and 1972, because of Roger’s extreme creative genius and song writing abilities, he became Pink Floyd’s main song writer and lyricist. Roger Waters wrote a vast majority of all of Pink Floyd’s music and lyrics from 1972, up until the band broke up in 1983!
