“Chaos”: images of war by Yannis Behrakis in Larissa September 14, 2006

The world famous photojournalist of Reuters agency, Yannis Bechrakis presents an exhibition entitled “Chaos” in Larissa. The display includes photographic images that the photographer took during his expeditions to Iraq, Somalia, Sierra Leone, Chechnya, Palestine, Afghanistan, Albania as well as during the recent war in Lebanon. The show is on from September 14 to 30 at the Hatzigianneio Municipal Cultural Centre (tel 2410 615608).

The photographs by Yannis Behrakis are distributed through Reuters to the Mass Media throughout the world. About three billions of people watch his work daily.

A few words about Yannis Behrakis
He was born in Athens in 1960. He studied photography and received his BA at Middlesex University. In 1988 he was hired by Reuters Agency in London and in 1989 he became manager of the photography department in Greece. The next year he was introduced to a group of 5-6 photographers and journalists of Reuters who were charged with the mission to cover the most important event worldwide.

He received many awardsamong which the World Press award, the Overseas Press club of America, the Bayeux and the Votsis award stand out.

He has taken part in many group exhibitions in Athens, Thessaloniki, London, Edinburgh, New York, Rome, Barcelona, Madrid and Dubai while he has presented solo exhibitions as well.

Curator of the exhibition is Yannis Fiotakis and the Larissa Photography Club.
