You don’t have to hop on a plane or jump onto a boat to get an authentic taste of Greece, you just have to head down the road and stop at Ilios Restaurant on North Terminal Avenue.

The restaurant offers a true “celebration of food and drink” and boasts delicious and unique Greek cuisine. It will celebrate its one year anniversary this month. Owner and chef Chris Zmeis celebrates his Greek heritage through Ilios’s varied menu that includes a roast lamb recipe acquired from a village in northern Greece.

Those looking for something extra special can try Ekmek, a unique and traditional Greek dessert that is hard to find. The desert consists of shredded filio in Metaxa and honey with custard on top, finished off with homemade whip cream.

Ilios is also known for its service with a smile and affordable prices. Zmeis describes Ilios as a “good family spot” where every customer is special and valued by the experienced restaurant staff. The casual, cozy and friendly atmosphere is complemented by the restaurant’s open and airy solarium and a large patio, perfect for summer dinners.

Ilios is open from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. daily and also delivers. Reservations are recommended for weekends. The great food is accompanied by live jazz, performed by the James McRae Trio, the trio plays every Tuesday at the restaurant.

Since it opened its doors, Ilios has been a member of the Chamber. Membership allows him and his business to get involved with the community Zmeis said, as well as receive support from other Chamber members.

To make a reservation, call Ilios at 754-1122.
