Following hundreds of sold-out shows around the world, “Lord of the Dance,” Michael Flatley’s enormously successful dance production, begins an 11-night run in Athens tonight, at the Olympic Badminton Theater.

The work, inspired by imaginary tales, folklore, ancient myths and Irish medieval legends, ranks as the world’s most profitable artistic spectacle of the past decade. Constantly on tour throughout the world, it has so far generated profits in excess of 450 million euros.

The production, which opened just over a decade ago, on July 2, 1996, at Dublin’s Point Theatre, excited both critics and theatergoers. Not long after, when the production was taken to New York City’s Radio City Music Hall, it was presented over 13 sold-out nights.

To date, “Lord of the Dance” has drawn over 50 million theatergoers in 60 countries on all five continents. Flatley’s production features a cast of wonderful dancers, among them Bernadette Flynn and Damien O’Kane.

Hello from Athens, Greece!
Nice to have you with us, thanks for sharing your LOTD passion. May I suggest to log onto the http://www.ticketnet.gr/lordofdance.html and I’m sure you will be able to find lots of info, posters and other material related to the Greek performances.
The outdoor promotion, billboard posters and other giant flyers all around the Athenian streets, are too big for scanning 🙂
Enjoy a great day!

Hi from Bulgaria!
I just logged in and I’m glad to find some LOTD fans closser to my country. If someone has visited the show please share some impressions:) I’d love to read them and to see some pictures if they are any! Ten shows sounds just wonderful and I’m sure that there are a lot of people interested in them. I heard on the news that it’s very hot Greece (in Sofia is too) , but I hope that’s not too big problem for going at the show 🙂 It would be great if I can visit Athens but for now I’m still sitting in the air-conditioned office.

Hello there in Bulgaria! Welcome to this Greek blog!

LOTD is a great show, and so far it has attracted high interest in Greece. I will see what I can do about more photos from the show, but I am not promising. If I can come up with some photos I will share them with our readers.

We are so close, get on the next train to Athens and enjoy the Greek hospitality. Don’t be scared about the weather though 🙂 its a temporary thing. These days its 43 C, good enough to roast a lamb or a cow at Syntagma Square!

Thank you so much for the pictures. I’m a great LOTD fan from their concert in Sofia 6 years ago and since then I’ve red the most things about them. I now want very much to meet some of the soloists(especially Bernadette Flynn) in person, because I discovered that they are very open to the fans. Thanks for the invitation too, hope I can come. When I do I’ll let you know:)
I red that George Michael is coming to Athens. He will have a concert in here before that, but the tickets were vere expensive and it won’t too convinient to be pressed by the crowd.
