International Onassis Prize in Shipping, Trade and Finance November 12, 2007

More news comes from London concerning the establishment of an International Onassis Prize in Shipping, Trade and Finance.

The announcement was made on Wednesday at Mansion House by the Lord Mayor of the City of London and Chancellor of City University, John Stuttard, in the presence of City University deans and select members from the worlds of business, shipping and academia.

The new award will be awarded biennially to recognize lifetime achievement by an academic of international stature, on a rotation basis in shipping, trade and finance. The first prize will be awarded in the fall of 2008, during a formal banquet at Guildhall in the City of London, while the selection process will begin later this year.

Sponsored by the Alexander S. Onassis Public Benefit Foundation, the Onassis Prize comes with 250,000 dollars.
