Greek teenagers are having sex at as young as 12 years old but more than half are not using proper methods of contraception, according to figures made public yesterday.

A survey presented at the Family Planning Conference being held in Thessaloniki indicated that the percentage of teenagers who are sexually active had increased from 30 percent in 2003 to 40 percent in 2007.

Almost seven in 10 teenagers have sex for the first time when they are aged between 16 and 18, but roughly one in 10 lose their virginity between the ages of 12 and 14.

A quarter of teenagers use inadequate contraception methods, while another 27 percent use no type of protection at all when having sex, according to the survey.

That is disgustingly shocking.

I also heard that 1/4 female teenagers now have an STD.

This world is coming to a crumble (and not just due to global warming).

I live in the U.S., but these figures don’t sound all that different from what’s going on here.

I know that some people say that safe sex and abstinence aren’t “realistic” to expect of human beings, and that having uncontrollable sex is what made it possible for humans to reproduce and persist despite hardships, and has made it possible for us to exist right now. But lately I’ve been thinking… if we don’t change our ways and evolve again (learn to control our sexual behavior), it’ll extinguish us. Kind of ironic, I suppose… what was once adaptive is now destructive…

I’ve herd that every 1 in 3 teen women have a STD.

Proper methods of safe sex are nice and all but with someone I know isnt diseased I’ll bare back it, I think women are less afraid of STD’s than guys.

@clarabelle, yeah before it was a way of survival, but now it would be that the human race is too large and because we’re destroying the earth. Nature has begun to make us weaker by giving us STD’s now due to our population size
