Greek engineering company Metka, a member of the Mytilineos Group, said that it had signed a strategic cooperation agreement with France’s Alstom.

The company said that Mytilineos’ CEO, Evangelos Mytilineos, Metka’s President Ioannis Mytilineos and Alstom CEO Patrick Kron have signed the agreement.

Metka and Alstom will cooperate on new power plants and environmental projects, and if their bids are successful, they will execute the projects together. The companies also intend to cooperate in the field of supporting services to power plants, such as revamping and retrofitting works, as well as specific manufacturing agreements of parts for gas and lignite power plants.

This agreement covers power projects in Greece as well as the broader southeastern Europe region, such as Cyprus, Albania, Bulgaria, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM), Serbia, Montenegro, Kosovo, Slovenia and Romania.

Metka will lead in power plant and service projects in Greece with Alstom’s assistance and using its equipment whenever feasible.

Metka said that in view of the privatization of the energy sector in Greece and the energy developments in the southeast European region, the two companies are well positioned to offer complete packages of products and services for the construction of reliable, environmentally friendly new power plants.
